Drake Passage, Southern Ocean
Seeing a wandering albatross is a rare treat indeed, but to actually see two was beyond words. Actually, we had three birds circling the ship and trying to capture two in the same frame was not easy. This is the best I could do, but I will take it! These magnificent birds are in major trouble, as are most of the planet's albatrosses due to long line fishing and plastic pollution. Their wing span alone is up to 13 feet, so it is really hard to convey in a photograph their size. I think they are the most magnificent bird I have ever seen and I hope we can save them for future generations. Learn more about how you can help at: http://www.hookpod.com
