Forster's Tern (Sterna forsteri)
Morro Bay, California
COP 2019 WORKSHOP PARTICIPANT NOTES:
Capturing Terns is very tricky as their movements can be very erratic! Therefore continuous auto focus and high shutter speeds are needed. I generally fire off bursts of three images at a time as a bird passes by. Diving can be even more tricky as you either need to maintain focus on the bird, or prefocus on the area you think it may enter the water. In essence, practice and lot's of trial and error is key!
