For this image I used a shallow depth of field, focusing on one of the eyes and made sure I positioned myself so Earl was set against the greenery in the background. Remember to move around until you find a background that works and is not distracting. The further the background from your subject, a more "blurry" effect can be achieved. Remember with birds, you want sharp eyes!!!
