Bosque del Apache

Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge
Socorro, New Mexico
I love to experiment with using slow shutter speeds, particularly in low light. They can create, ethereal, artistic results such as here with this beautiful sandhill crane with wings spread, as it landed in a pond to roost for the night. Key with these type of images is to keep the head and eyes relatively sharp, while capturing motion in the wings. I particularly love the golden light and splashing water in this image.
