Pléneau Bay from Petermann Island
Antarctica
Pléneau Bay is known as the "frozen graveyard" where massive, sculptured icebergs of all shapes and size find a final resting place. Many have drifted from as far afield as the Ross Ice Shelf and run aground here. The area was named by French explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot after his expedition photographer Paul Pléneau. It is one of the most spectacular areas to visit in Antarctica and one of my favorites.
